RCTV Bio
Mention RCTV to Cebuanos and you would probably get a response that says, “Mao nang naa si Alexis sah?” (That's the one with Alexis?) Well, it probably won't come as a shock since Alexis Yap is the host of a show that entails him to go all over the Metro—and sometimes even out of town.
His career started when RCTV wanted to reformat the show Around Town into a full blast community billboard which would showcase events in Cebu and even interesting personalities. Station Manager Chad Songalia offered him the job to host it, and after a trial shoot, well you know the cliché, the rest is history.
In his two years of being the host of Around Town (which also includes the 30-minute talk show, Real Life) he has experienced a lot, including having his eyebrow pierced on local television for all the Cebuanos to see! Yep, he is definitely the type who is up for anything as long as it enriches his experiences and even provide quality content to his show. One memorable experience for him was when he had to cover the Kinsan Festival in Aloguinsan. “I'd never forget the Bojo River Cruise at Aloguinsan. It was so much fun, informative and such an enriching experience. The view was absolutely breath-taking!”
Ofcourse, Alexis does not want to stop at that. He wants to be able to cover more festivals and events within and outside of Cebu. As a Real Life host, he also wants to share more stories of interesting Cebuanos and maybe even get involved in investigative journalism. “The best thing about being the host of Around Town is the opportunity to experience many interesting, amazing and exciting things is life.”
According to him, he loves RCTV because its real with no pretensions, which we thinks also reflects who he is. Real to the core. What you see on TV is what he really is. “I am proud to be a Cebuano because of the warmth of its people, the beauty of the island, and the unity of its population. I am proud to be an RCTV talent because I am part of an amazing team.”
